At Flair, opportunities are for all.
We have never auditioned for a place in one of our troupes we make them available to anyone who fits the age criteria. We believe it's all about the experience you get from taking part in something and find that students who want to do be a part of a troupe or squad work hard to do their best and we work hard to support and nurture their best. Over the years we've had some incredible experiences.
We're never sure what's going to come in over the course of the year, but over the past 17 years we have been invited to and performed at some amazing events and venues. These include performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Her Majesty's Theatre, Sadler's Wells Theatre, Disneyland Paris, Port Aventura Barcelona to name some of the most prestigious. We've been involved in TV productions on the BBC and ITV as well as independent projects including music videos. We're often invited to dance at award ceremonies & other local events. Most recently we were invited to perform with Pasha Kovalev from BBC1s Strictly Come Dancing in his 2018 UK Tour and brought the house down a fantastic routine in each act of the show; one featuring Pasha himself!
New for 2019 is the introduction of a Competition Squad to a Saturday afternoon. As an inclusive school our Competition Squad is open to anyone who is wanting to do competitions. Pairs, Duos & Teams of varying levels can be arranged from within the squad to give each member competition experience with the focus on being a part of the overall competing team and the enjoyment that brings rather than an expectation of any given result.
Every year in June we hold our annual show at the Hazlitt Theatre on Earl Street in Maidstone. Every class from Preschool Pros up are invited to take part - though participation is not mandatory and those who don't do the show will still enjoy their classes as usual, they just won't perform the routines at the show. Each class performs two dance numbers; one in the first act, one in the second. We ensure the routine lengths are all about the same across all of the classes and construct routines so that everyone is given their fair share of time in the front row of the dance number. We believe very much in fairness and don't want anyone to feel like they're stuck in the back the whole time or that they didn't get as much time on stage as anyone else.
INTERNATIONAL DANCE REWARDS
We constantly monitor and assess the progression of each student and their efforts in class. Working through the badges of the International Dance Rewards we make regular termly presentations of badges and certificates to students to mark their achievements. Everyone works towards a badge each term and as such is rewarded three times a year at Christmas, Easter and in the summer.
We hold an annual examination sitting each year for those wanting to take an examination. As we have regular assessments through the IDR these are not mandatory and do not affect a students progression through our classes if they do not wish to take an exam.
If you have any questions regarding the above then please do not hesitate to pop us an email. We will get back to you as soon as we can.
