Preschool Shows FAQs

What do I need to know for the Preschool Shows?

The preschool shows are on Sunday 7th July 2019 at The Exchange Studio, Market Buildings, Maidstone, ME14 1HP

The first show (Show 5 of our summer season) is at 9:30 - 10:30am (doors open 9am). The second show (Show 6 of our summer season) is 11:30 - 12:30 (doors open 11am).

Each performer will be in just 1 show. Performers will showcase two routines per class they take.

The preschool shows are an 'End of Year Presentation' and very informal and relaxed. Your youngster will arrive with you (in their class uniform) and sit on your knee until it is time for them to perform. They will come down a group at a time and do their dances then return to you and watch the show from your lap. There are between 4 and 6 groups performing in each show and we are aiming for the shows to last no more than an hour from start to finish.

How do we get into The Exchange Studio?

The Exchange Studio is located at the back of the Hazlitt Theatre, you do not enter via the theatre however, come to the right of it and walk down towards the entrance to the Royal Star, it is just on the left hand side (past Frederics & Salamander) before you get to Muggletons. Maybe do a dry run ahead of time if these directions make no sense!

How much are tickets and how do I get them?

There is no charge for the tickets, these will be given out to you in class near the show time.

The Exchange Studio has seating for 135 people. We have allocated 2 tickets to each performer at the outset to guarantee everyone can attend with their child.

Approximately two weeks before the show we will hold a ballot for those wishing to receive additional tickets and will notify/distribute to those who have been successful.

Can I film / take pictures?

Yes, we will not be filming the show or bringing in a photographer so if you would like a record of it you are welcome to film/take photos. Please do not however name other peoples children in anything you put on social media.

Is there a dress rehearsal?

There is not. The work undertaken in class will fully prepare the students for their performance on the day.

Can you send me a video of my routine to practice?

We don't send out practice videos, but you may pop in & film the last run of the routines one week if you speak to the teacher at the beginning to check it's convenient to do so.

What songs are my child is dancing to?

This is a question for your class teacher at drop off or collection. Classes run back to back so you'll have to catch them quickly at chageover, they can't give you a lengthy discussion about the show (check out all the info on this page if you want to know more) but they can tell you what you're dancing to.

What should I do for hair / makeup?

Ballet students should have their hair in a bun or french plait (one or two), all other classes should have their hair in a french plait (either one or two). If you 'can't do hair' then just do your best, if all else fails go with a pony tail! Performers do not wear makeup.
